Elseworlds

JLA: Act of God

I'm not really sure what to make of this elseworlds story. The plot follows superheroes who have inexplicably (and I do mean inexplicably) lost their powers. Instead of joining Batman's team, like some of the others, Wonder Woman decides to become a Christian buisness woman (?) and Clark a depressed alcoholic. I suppose the only highlight of this story is Lois divorcing Clark and him finding love with Diana (angsty love, but love nonetheless)- thus proving that Clark can give his heart to Diana even when Lois is alive.

JLA: Created Equal

Not gonna lie, this comic isn't the coolest icecube in the igloo- and more than a little creepy with Superman inseminating the female population and Luthor growing a baby farm. Anyways, the premise is that anyone carrying the Y chromosome gets sick and dies leaving only women and Superman alive. Not only is Clark stuck with the burden of being the last man alive, but Luthor forces him to leave earth (there's a really touching scene where he says good bye to Wonder Woman). The flaw in this story is that what could've been a positive story about equality and a woman's POV is totally overshadowed when Superman comes back to save the day. I digress, you guys probably only care about the SM/WW scenes and I'm here to tell you there's plenty of them in this story- though I'm not a big fan of Diana trying to push Clark into reproducing with her.

Superman: Distant Fires

*sigh* Another ill-fated elseworld story. Apparently the world goes through nuclear holocaust and Superman and the remaining few are forced to rebuild (did I mention there's giant mutated rats and that Clark rides a giant cat?). Don't let me turn you off from this story though, the SM/WW scenes are beautiful and heartwarming (though I'd like to pretend Diana never boinked Billy Batson *shivers*).

Kingdom Come

And here's the acclaimed "Kingdom Come" arc that everyone loves. I'm not gonna summarize it b/c that would take too long and most of you have already read it. Instead I'll tell you that as SM/WW shippers you should LOVE this. Not only do Kal and Diana come together in the end, but they each help eachother grow into their ideal selves. This trade also proves that yes, there is love after Lois (I'm looking at you Action Comics 761).
